FSC certification for exporting furniture to Scandinavia: what Danish retailers check

Scandinavian retailers do not accept furniture without an FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certificate. But that is not enough.

What they check:

• The chain of custody: from logging to the finished product.
• No timber from occupied territories. Danish chains require an additional declaration of the origin of raw materials.
• The environmental profile of paints and coatings (Emission Class E1 standard).

How to prepare: Obtain an FSC-CoC certificate. Prepare documentation for every stage of production. Budget for additional certification costs — 3–5% on top of the production cost.
